A common question for many people who are new to anti-wrinkle injections is how many units they will need during treatment. Everyone is different so it is impossible to give an exact answer. Depending on your age, gender and needs, we can help you determine an approximate amount.
Here are what the average units of Botox for the different areas of the face are, so you have a baseline of what to expect when doing your first treatment.
Consider these other factors that could influence how many units of anti-wrinkle injections you will likely need:
Muscle Strength
The strength of the muscles in your face, particularly the forehead muscles, plays a large part in how many units you will need. If you have stronger muscles, you will need more, weaker muscles require less. This is one area where gender makes a significant difference. Men generally will have stronger facial muscles than women, which will require a higher dosage.
Treatment Goals
What are your treatment goals besides getting rid of wrinkles? Do you want to completely eliminate all the wrinkles from your face (resulting in no muscle movement at all), or do you just want to remove a few wrinkles and retain some range of movement. This can go a long way into determining how many units you will need.
Metabolism
If you have a fast metabolism or workout frequently, you will easily excrete substances in your body. You may find yourself needing more frequent treatments than someone with a slower metabolism. Just like muscle strength, gender plays a role here as well. On average, men will have a higher metabolism than women (which is why they tend to lose weight faster). As a result, men not only require a higher dosage, but more treatments.
